A Holistic Worldview
What provides meaning for my life is a holistic worldview with my spiritual beliefs at its core. As a teenager, I wondered about the meaning of life and was not fulfilled by my religion that asserted that all other religions were “incorrect.” In college, I discovered the Baha’i Faith, that reassured me that all religions are one; that the world is but one country and humankind its citizens; and that there has been a progressive revelation of manifestations each proclaiming the same spiritual laws, but introducing social laws according to the exigencies of the age. Subsequently, I sought a service-oriented career where I could apply my beliefs in multicultural settings and/or with a multicultural perspective. I married my soul-mate, who shared a similar worldview and who eventually became a Baha’i. Finally, in my daily obligatory prayer I am reminded that the purpose of life is to know and worship God.
