Mastery Over Self

Anyone with an eye and ear to social media might conclude that sex is the most all-encompassing component of modern life. Current media suggests that a person’s entire identity and assessment is reduced to one of the smallest aspects of daily life. Baha’is believe that in the future, sexual mores will take a more equitable place in daily life.

Baha’u’llah aimed to create a new level of morality. This would entail a new perspective on the nexus of human sexuality and intimate relationships. He described how men and women in the coming world order would not behave in current ways because they will display mastery over self. The standard Baha’u’llah sets for human sexuality necessitates the control and expression of the sexual impulse to occur within the framework of a loving marriage of equals. This transformational process requires partners to work through difficulties and temptations as they grow together spiritually.
